John has been a member of the Kew front row since moving from Sydney in 1993, regularly in the position of associate principal cornet.

Currently employed at Melbourne University, John is a leading Associate Professor of Mathematics in various advanced fields including Plasticity and elasticity, Dynamic force spectroscopy and Nanocrystal mechanics.

John's abilities as a remarkable cornet player do not go unnoticed by those around him although the rest of the section marvel at the fact that he cannot count. He states he has no interests to take on the job as Principal Cornet as that would mean he would "...have to practice”.
