Broden is the youngest member of Kew (17). Broden Ford was born in Bendigo in 1988. He began playing percussion when he was very young, inspired by strong family involvement in and love for music. Broden received early encouragement and support from Mr. Kevin Simmonds, ABC showband drummer and session musician. This was followed by a series of percussion lessons from Steven Turner, another Bendigo percussionist who is currently a member of the Australian Army Band, based in Townsville.
Broden commenced formal ensemble training at the Greater Bendigo Concert Brass Training Band at the age of six, and was a member of the Greater Bendigo Junior Band when they won the 1999 National Junior B Grade championship.
Broden won a scholarship to Brimbank College (11) and subsequently won the Under 13 State Orica Music Scholarship (against all instruments).
In 2005 Broden won a music scholarship to Mowbray College where he is completing his studies.
